The western part of the city has a sequence of cities and beaches like Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes.

Beverly Hills and Hollywood, the most famous neighbourhoods of LA, are located in the north western side of the city, slightly away form the seaside. In Beverly Hills you will be able to see the famous movie stars houses and walk along the legendary Rodeo Drive Avenue.

Hollywood is also a place you can�t miss. The movies� land has received a big renovation in the last years.

The city is bordered on the east by the mountains of San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains, on the north by the Santa Monica Mountains and on the south by the Santa Anna Mountains.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

This city has an amazing weather all year round. From November to May it is very sunny and great for skiing. Summer is better if you prefer bike riding or sailing.

HOW TO GET THERE

Los Angeles has some major airports:

LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) is located 30 minutes from downtown or from Beverly Hills. A free "A" shuttle bus connects the several terminals.

The best way to get to the city centre is by taxi or renting-a-car. There are free shuttle buses to Aviation Station on the Metro Green Line, and LAX FlyAway shuttles to Union.

The others are Long Beach Airport, Bob Hope (Burbank) Airport, Orange County/John Wayne Airport and LA/Ontario Airport.

TRAVELLING AROUND

MTA (the Metropolitan Transportation Authority) runs the Metro subway, the bus connections and the light rail lines between commuter cities.

A good way to discover LA and its surroundings is by car. Except for the rush hours, it is possible to cross the entire city in about 20 minutes. LA has a big network of freeways and roads that connect all parts of the city. If you decide to rent a car, make sure you get a good map or a GPS, to learn how to move inside the city.
